BALLAST WEIGHT AT IN-HOUSE PRODUCTION (ULTRA-CUBE)

 IHP IS AT IT AGAIN. WE HAVE DESIGNED AND BUILT THE ULTIMATE ENTERTAINMENT BALLAST WEIGHT WE CALL ULTRA-CUBE. THE PICTURE BELOW SAYS IT ALL.

DO YOU NEED TO BOLT TRUSS IN THE CENTER OF THE CUBE, OR ON THE EDGES. THE TOP PLATE WITH ALL ITS BOLT HOLES LETS YOU DO THAT.  

YOU CAN BOLT 12"X12" OR 20.5"X20.5" ALUMINUM TRUSS TO THE TOP IN DIFFERENT CONFIGURATIONS AND 12"X12" OR 20.5"X20.5" TRUSS TO ALL FOUR (4) SIDES FOR OUTRIGGERS OR BOLTING THE ULTRA-CUBES TOGETHER.

THE SQUARE SIDE HOLES AT THE TOP OF EACH SIDE HAVE SEVERAL USES. (1) IS FOR GETTING TO THE BOLTS WHEN ADDING TRUSS TO THE TOP LID, AND (2) FOR PICKING THE ULTRA -CUBE UP USING A FORKLIFT. YOU CAN PICK UP THE ULTRA-CUBE FROM ANY SIDE, AND  THE WEIGHT IS ALWAYS BELOW THE FORKLIFT FORKS. THIS HELPS STABILIZE THE LOAD FOR SAFETY.

SCREWJACKS CAN BE USED TO LEVEL THE ULTRA-CUBE WHEN THE GROUND IS NOT LEVEL.

CART SOLUTIONS BY IN-HOUSE PRODUCTION (IHP)

 IHP recently partnered with a client who designed a versatile audience seating system that can be removed in groups of five or fewer – perfect for quickly converting a space from seated events to standing-room-only configurations. To support this flexibility, they needed large, durable carts that could be lifted by a forklift and stacked to maximize floor space.

Carts are stackable for storage and reduce space.

Working closely with the theatre team, we engineered multi-use rolling carts that do exactly that. By simply changing out to different length poles, the same carts can be reconfigured for stage or band use, with multiple height options to achieve the exact on-stage look you want.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM IHP

 

Our IHP staff will be spending Thanksgiving with their families and friends, so our office will be closed Thursday and Friday. However, if you have an urgent need, a quick phone call to any of us, and we’ll be happy to assist with your emergency rental or labor requests.

SANDBAGS WITH CARTS HEADING FOR SHOWSITE BY IHP

At In-House Production (IHP), we had an order for a load of sandbags. We considered the best way for the crew to move the sandbags around on the show floor. We know that if we load the sandbags into large carts, they become far too heavy to move, as we have tried. 

This is why we had 8 carts or sandbags and 1 cart of cheeseboroughs to the order. 

 

The crew moving around the carts at the show site will be glad that each cart has less weight. I know I would. Call for your rental today.

To better support our clients, IHP now stocks 3/4" three-strand purchase line rope, ready for your next rigging project.

Flyrail systems include critical components that wear over time and require regular inspection. At In-House Production (IHP), we specialize in theater flyrail inspections. Our team will assess your system, identify components in good working condition, and provide a detailed report on parts that may need repair or replacement—ensuring your rigging system stays safe and reliable.

Flyrail systems can range from a single arbor loaded with counterweights to more than 50 arbors in use at once. When operated improperly, these systems pose serious safety risks to anyone unfamiliar with their function. That’s why In-House Production (IHP) not only offers thorough flyrail inspections and repairs but also provides on-site training for your staff on the safe and proper use of flyrail systems. Our goal is to help maintain a safe, efficient, and fully compliant theater environment.

 

Just like the purchase line rope, rope locks are subject to wear and tear over time and must be regularly inspected and replaced to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the flyrail system. While rope locks may appear similar and function in the same way, differences in bolt patterns can present challenges when replacing older units with new ones.

 

A well-maintained theater flyrail system can greatly expand the creative possibilities for productions—provided that both the system and its operators have a strong understanding of its functions and are trained to use it safely.

Bleacher Removal at a Las Vegas School Gym

STAGE PLATFORMS USED FOR MORE THAN STAGES.

To drive an old, heavy all-steel car onto stage platforms without needing additional wood reinforcement, the platforms must be designed to handle significant weight. Here are the key factors to consider:

NEW VIDEO WALL TOWERS

TRUSS STRUCTURE FOR VIDEO WALL BY IHP 

In-House Production (IHP) was invited to Laughlin, Nevada, to assist one of the hotels in enhancing their large outdoor self-climbing shade stage for a spectacular outdoor event.

The Video Wall Truss Structure was strategically positioned directly behind the stage to optimize visibility. This setup included climbing truss towers equipped with four 1-ton chain hoists embedded within the cross truss. Additionally, a 12-inch spigot truss was incorporated specifically to support the video wall, enhancing the overall staging configuration.

The design allowed the video wall to operate independently from the main structure, enabling it to be raised or lowered as needed. The tower legs were securely anchored using 3600-pound weights and reinforced with additional back supports connected directly to the legs, ensuring stability and safety throughout the event.

 Additionally, a 12-inch truss was integrated at the base of the video wall to counteract any swinging motion. This support, connected to the towers, ensured the video wall remained stable and reduced any potential bending or flexing during operation.
